Despite challenges and barriers, Black people have a history of founding their own neighborhoods, towns, and cities with business, arts, and entertainment districts. Unfortunately, many were destroyed, but many still exist. Empowerment Center’s Women's Support Group is designed to support women to find strategies to handle life’s gifts and challenges. This women’s circle has proven to be of great value in helping the participants create greater harmony, joy, self-esteem and a sense of purpose in their world.

12/19 - Soul Sippin | Virtual Wine Tasting and Soul Food Pairing Event


Girl Gang Entertainment is a company committed to enriching the lives of black millennials and supporting small businesses while building community. With the second wave of shut downs due to COVID-19 we wanted to focus primarily on supporting local small businesses, specifically black owned businesses!

While brainstorming how to use our talents and address the needs of our community to have fun safely during this pandemic we came up with the idea of putting together a virtual wine pairing event. We decided to pair three wines with a 3 course soul food dinner of fried chicken or fried fish with an appetizer and dessert.

Weekly Zoom Networking event for businesses to learn about other black-owned businesses. The purpose of this webinar is so everyone can get to see each other which I feel is more personal. I love connecting black-owned businesses this is just an added benefit for us to connect.

Lastly Street Smart Collaborative is raising funds for their first Black-owned Gift Box. Our Black Gift Box hopes to advance the mission of supporting underserved communities by curating and selling a selection of goods from local black-owned businesses while serving as an advertisement for small businesses.
